Raffy (Olivia Deeble) has been feeling better since taking CBD oil as part of a medical trial, and despite her breakup with Ryder (Lukas Radovich) putting a damper on things lately, she has been working hard at her revision and feels nervous but optimistic on the morning of her trial exam.
When she enters the exam room, Ryder tries to cheer her up by giving her a cute eraser, but Raffy is icy and tells him to take it off her desk. After finishing the exam, Raffy is feeling confident, and proud that she didn’t need to use her extra time allowance. Ryder tries to speak to Raffy again, but she shuts him down and goes to celebrate with Justin (James Stewart) and Marilyn (Emily Symons), saying she’s doing so much better now she’s on the trial.
Justin’s joy for his sister is cut short when he receives a call telling him that Raffy’s trial has lost funding – so it’s being cancelled. He hurries to the gym to tell Mason (Orpheus Pledger) the news, and the brothers worry about how this will affect Raffy’s exams. Later, Raffy wonders where Justin disappeared to, and wonders if something is wrong. While Justin tells her this isn’t the case, Raffy is left feeling suspicious.
Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin take a walk, where he tells her about the situation. Tori (Penny McNamee) is the one who has all the medical connections, but all he could do was ask Colby (Tim Franklin) to get Robbo (Jake Ryan) to pass on a message to her. Leah manages to keep Justin positive, and Tori gets the message from Lance (Angus McLaren) and calls Justin. She gives him the name of an associate who could help.
However, when Justin calls the associate, he learns the only other trial nearby is in Melbourne, and Raffy would have to move there. The Morgans decide there’s no other option – they have to tell Raffy. She is distraught at learning she will no longer have access to medication that makes her better, and starts to sob, saying she’s going to fail all of her exams…
