Busy Philipps has earned her stripes in the TV world. As an actress, she is best known for her work on hit shows such as Dawson’s Creek, ER, Freaks and Geeks, and Cougar Town. She’s beautiful, funny and down-to-Earth which is why it was no surprise when she landed her own late-night talk show, Busy Tonight on E!

The talk show was on air for seven months, and seemingly was doing well. Philipps has 2 million followers on Instagram and a growing fan-base. So what went wrong? Keep reading for your mind to get blown, over and over again.
10 “The Fired Feeling”
It’s easy to think that celebrities are so far out of our reality. From getting their own TV shows, owning private jets, and purchasing handbags that are worth more than our homes; however, as hard as this is to believe many of them do have regular human problems.
Recent college graduates around the world this one’s for you: we all know how hard it is to get a job, let alone one we actually like. And unfortunately, many of us know too well what it is like to be fired or laid off: your stomach sinks, your heart races, and your head begins to pound. This first photo Busy shared is that exact feeling in picture-form.
9 Her Lucky Song
Do you have a song that is your song? Of course you do, everyone has their own jam. For Busy Philipps that song is from Deerhunter. As her plane took off her favorite song, “He Would Have Laughed,” from Deerhunter came on her shuffle.
Busy felt like this was a good sign. So she did what any wife would do and texted her husband Marc Silverstein about it. But unfortunately for Busy, that song didn’t bring any luck at the moment. What happened when she landed was actually the absolute opposite.
8 A Brutally Honest Text
When Busy’s flight landed she received a text from her manager to call her. So she did; she received the news that E! would not renew her show. Busy said, “It was effectively canceled. I was blindsided, especially since the last text I had from the head of E! (who’s now gone) was about marketing for Busy Tonight that he was excited to tell me about.”

She shared her text message conversation with the head of E! and it’s pretty epic. Rightfully so, after he says he’s available to talk, she responds with, “Nah dude. You’re bad at your job. Do better.” Tell em’ Busy.
7 Ugly Crying
There are many types of crying. You have the tiny tear; where you are mildly sad and you have the physically wipe your eye to get it to fall. Then there’s the screaming cry; mostly utilized by toddlers or sorority girls to get attention. Next and by far the most important is the ugly cry; you cannot contain your emotions and it is most likely the end of the world.
Here not only do we have a full-blown ugly cry going on- we have level-10 smudged mascara. Let us put this simply: Busy is NOT ok.
6 A Meaningful Tattoo
Busy shared, “I sat in the lobby of the hotel in Dallas and ordered three tequilas and called Marc, Caissie, Eric, Tina, Caissie again and I cried. I waited for a call or email from someone at E, which never came.”
She says the combination of that paired with, “the illustration from my book from the chapter where I got super f***** over by some dudes in this business,” inspired her newest tattoo. Yes, it’s a woman skating away and her path says exactly what you think it does.
5 New Moon
They say, “Good things fall apart so better things can come together.” What happened next to Busy was living proof of that. Before she went to bed all distraught, she saw it was a new moon.

Busy then shared this picture of what the meaning behind a new moon is. Traditionally, a new moon is said to be the turning of a new leaf or chapter in one’s life. After she read that, she had a sense of peace that everything was going to be more than fine.
4 The Letter
Busy Phillips has two children with husband Marc Silverstein. Let’s just take a moment for you to guess their names. Got it? Well, it’s nothing like you were thinking. Their two daughters’ names are Birdie Leigh Silverstein and Cricket Pearl Silverstein.
Anyway, eldest daughter Birdie was not happy with the way E! treated her mama. She took matters into her own hands by writing a letter to them. The first image was this one; the cover of the letter short and sweet. Keep scrolling because it gets better and better.
3 The Letter Part II
The next picture was the inside context of the letter. Little Birdie writes, “You are the worst TV network. EVER. Why! Well, 1. You got rid of my mom’s show. 2. You made a lot of people lose their jobs.” How smart is she to realize that not only did this affect her mom but everyone else that worked there?
The best part was #3. Birdie continued, “You suck. Well, anyways my mom does work much harder than you. So you don’t deserve her.” YES, Birdie, you are doing your mother the justice she deserves.
2 The Letter Part III
*Disclaimer: do not mess with Birdie.* This little girl saved the best for last. On the back of the letter, she had one final note to E!
Children say the funniest things. Let’s be honest: the more inappropriate, the funnier it is. Birdie wrote in big black letters, “She will shove it up your a**. Sincerely, Birdie.”

As amazing as this letter is; it’s even better that it helped Busy uplift herself. She wrote, “My girl knows something about her mom- I work hard AF and love to prove people wrong.”
1 #BFFGoals
We all know that when our lives begin to crumble we immediately call our best friends. They are the people that know us better than ourselves and can bring light to the darkest of days. Busy previously said above that once she found out her show was canceled she called her girl Caissie.
Busy ends this raw and emotional post with a picture of them together writing, “Finally, the men will always try to f*** you over so f*** em and figure out something else. Which is exactly what Caissie and I have been doing. And next year; in 2020 we will finally be able to share it.” Busy, it’s comeback season.
