For many, stretch marks are a fact of life. Whether from pregnancy, weight gain or loss, or simply genetics, there are a number of ways you can gain your warrior stripes. While they are nothing to be ashamed of, and instead should be celebrated, there’s nothing wrong with wanting them to be a little less noticeable.
Luckily Aldi are on the case, launching a brand new “magic cream” that promises to soothe your “warrior marks”. According to the Aldi website, the anti-stretch mark cream has been developed with doctors, dermatologically tested and vegan friendly.
While no cream will make your stretch marks completely disappear, the product is designed to “keep skin soft and supple” by soothing and nourishing the skin.
Better yet, it’s purse-friendly at £2.99 a pop. By comparison, 120ml pots of the leading anti-stretch mark tummy rub butter from Mama Mio have an RRP of £24.
As part of their brand new Mum To Be range, the retailer has released a range of products, including the £2.99 Stretch Mark Soother Cream, as well as a Stretch Mark Soother Oil, £3.99, a Step Ahead Nipple Balm, £3.99 and a Magic Bump Mask, just £2.99.
The Stretch Mark Soother Oil, while designed for expectant mothers, can be used on anybody with sensitive skin who’s looking to reduce or prevent the appearance of stretch marks.
The Nipple Balm boasts calming ingredients such as shea butter and coconut oil, lifesavers for cracking and sore nipples during pregnancy and breast feeding.
To complete the range, the Aldi Magic Bump Mask is infused with rosehip oil and aloe vera to cool and soothe the skin, while preventing stretch marks.
Aldi's stretch mark soother range has already sent shoppers running to the shelves. On the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, one fan wrote: “Bit of a post-baby treat.”
Another said: "It’s a dupe for Midwife Expert which is expensive."
Hundreds of others tagged family and friends stating: “'A trip to Aldi is in store.”
On the NHS website, it states: “Stretch marks are often caused by sudden growth or weight gain.
“You may be more likely to get them if you are pregnant, are going through puberty, lose or gain weight quickly, are female, are overweight, use some kinds of steroid creams or tablets, [or] have a family member with stretch marks.
“Stretch marks usually fade over time but may not disappear completely.
“Many creams and lotions claim to prevent, reduce or remove stretch marks. But there's very little evidence these work.
“There are some treatments that may help make stretch marks look better, but they will not get rid of them."
Available as part of Aldi’s January Baby Event, the Step Ahead Mum to Be range will be available in stores from the 12th January, while stocks last.
