When it comes to our kids, there's little doubt most parents think their own outshines everyone else in their class.
It's a naturally build-in emotion to think no other comes close to yours.
But one mum was not at all happy when her child didn't get the role her talent clearly deserves in a school play.
Now she has come under fire for refusing to attend because her daughter was cast as a tree.
She took to Reddit to ask for advice after her husband said she was being "unfair" for boycotting after she landed the naff part.
The woman informed her sad daughter that she wouldn't take a day off work for it as "trees don't don't do anything" – despite the girl telling her teacher that's the role she wanted.
If left the child in floods of tears – and the mum didn't get the reaction she hoped for on the website.
Explaining her decision, she said: "I spoke to the teacher and told her absolutely not, my daughter will not be a tree and the teacher agreed.
"She said my daughter is the best singer in the class and that she even has a solo…but also that if my daughter refuses to sing, she can't make her."
She added: "The trees don't do anything. Why am I going to a play to see my daughter do nothing but stand there in a tree costume?"
"I told my daughter that if she's going to be a tree that day, then I'm not taking off work.
"She started crying and ran and told my husband. He was no help.
"He took her side and said that it doesn't matter if she wants to be a tree because there'll be more plays in the future and she might want to be something else. I told him that I would go to those plays then, but I'm not going to this one."
The Reddit users piled in on her, as expected.
"The hell is wrong with you? She’s in second grade…. Suck it up and tell her she’s the best tree you’ve ever seen," on told her.
Another sarcastically said: "You're right – this should be all about you and what you want."
A third added: "Get a grip, you asked for a judgment and you have got it!"
