Argos shoppers can now collect Nectar points in store and online for the first time

SHOPPERS can now earn Nectar points when they spend money at Argos in store or online.

From today Nectar customers can earn 1 point for every £1 they spend and it will also run a double points event this month.

Shoppers will get 2 points for every £1 spent at Argos between 18 and 28 September.

Nectar points can already be spent at Argos but it's the first time the Nectar loyalty card can be used at Argos to earn points when making a purchase.

Sainsbury's runs the Nectar loyalty scheme and owns Argos.

To earn Nectar points online, customers need to link their Nectar card and Argos account. This can be done on the website or through the app.

And when shopping in Argos stores, cardholders just need to type in their Nectar card number or swipe the card at the till.

When spending nectar points at Argos in store or online, 500 points are worth £2.50.

Shoppers can already build up Nectar points when spending at a range of stores other than Sainsbury's such as eBay and Dulux Decorator Centres.

And they can be spent at locations such as Cafe Nero and Vue Cinemas.

A comparison of supermarket loyalty schemes by The Sun found the Nectar card gives you 30p back on the average weekly shop of £60.

That compares to £3 with both the Iceland Bonus Card and Morrisons More, while some schemes such as Lidl Plus and MyWaitorse do not offer points.

Shoppers at Lidl can now get even more discounts with the supermarket’s new loyalty app.
