Brits are set to enjoy an Indian Summer this week as sub-zero temperatures make way for 18C heat.
It will be a chilly morning for most today, with -2C lows in parts of Scotland, according to the Met Office.
Despite the cold start to the week, a warm continental plume will sweep across Britain over the next few days, bringing highs of 18C on Friday, Weather Online reports.
Forecasters are predicting unseasonably sunny weather today, with bright spells across the country, although there will be downpours in the south-east.
There will be a north-south weather split from tomorrow.
A spokesman for netweather.tv said: "It'll be windy with more cloud in the north, along with some patchy rain affecting the far north and north-west at times.
"Further south, after a chilly start, there'll be plenty of sunshine, with just a light south-west breeze.
"Overnight, the rain in the north-west looks set to gather itself and become more persistent and heavy, with winds strengthening at the same time.
"It'll be another chilly night with some fog and frost further south though."
Much of central, south, east, south-east and south-west England will bask in sunshine tomorrow, however northern parts of Scotland will see heavy rain.
The north-south split will continue on Wednesday as high winds batter the north, while dry and sunny weather heats up the south.
Some sunny spells are possible in north-west and north England.
Thursday will be dominated by a mix of cloud and sunshine, with light showers in central, north, north-west England, Northern Ireland and most of Scotland.
Despite temperatures soaring on Friday, much of the country will be lashed by downpours, marking a resumption of the October washout.
