Comic buffs Sam and Chloe Clark love Marvel Comics so much they used it as the theme for their wedding.
The couple got married at the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool city centre on August 4 and had bartender Sam's $220 purple Infinity Gauntlet as a feature of the ceremony.
Shortly before the Best Man's speech, his pal Harry Radford and pal snuck out of the room to dress as Spider Man and Iron Man.
Sam says he had no idea it was happening.
He said: "It was a complete surprise! My best man, Harry, ran back in and shouted: 'Avengers assemble.'
"They came over and gave me Thor's hammer. I had absolutely no idea – it was just a complete surprise and I was speechless."
There was a black and white Marvel cake which folded away to reveal edible comics beneath it.
All the tables at the wedding were named after Marvel characters and there were Marvel-themed sweets (or wedding favours) on the tables.
The newlyweds were joined by 80 guests during the day with 110 for the evening party.
"It really was the best day of my life," Sam, who is 26, said. "I just wanted time to slow down on the day as I enjoyed every single minute."
He said the couple only got engaged last September and had booked the venue for their marriage within weeks. His wife is 29 and works as a senior relationship manager in finance.
The theme was a joint venture as both Sam and Chloe are fans of the iconic comics. Chloe even has a tattoo of her favourite character – Iron Man.
"Chloe and I absolutely love Marvel Comics," Sam explained. "We are both fanatics and we have been to some of the smaller Comic Cons together. The dream is to go to San Diego one day.
"While Chloe has a tattoo of a portrait of Iron Man, I have a tattoo on my list of things to do."
The couple have been together for five years and met through friends.
"We were both single but we knew of each other through our mutual friends. They said to me: 'She's single why don't you meet up?'
"And we did!
Not surprisingly, Chloe is a huge fan of Iron Man whereas Sam's favourite character is Thor.
"We just love the superhero characters," he added. "We are such nerds in a way.
"When the Avengers films came out, I went to see them so many times it was in triple digits the number of cinema visits.
They plan to honeymoon in Florida last this year and will visit Universal Islands of Adventure, where they have holidayed previously.
"We have been going to Florida every year since 2016," Sam added. "I wanted to go on the Hulk rollercoaster when we got there – but it was down for maintenance so I couldn't!
"I had to wait until the next year, which was just before Hurricane Irma. The Hulk rollercoaster was damaged and I was like a 24-year-old child having a full-on tantrum."
Luckily, the ride was fixed during their stay and he was able to enjoy it.
