Death In Paradise viewers spotted a ‘rookie mistake’ when the BBC1 drama returned to screens last night. 

Eagle-eyed fans noticed Charles Crabtree (Adrian Edmonson) held his phone upside down when calling an ambulance following a knife attack on Donald McCormack (Samuel West). 

The blunder sparked much comment on Twitter, with one viewer writing: ‘#DeathInParadise lovely use of an upside down mobile phone.’

The blunder sparked much comment on Twitter as fans shared their glee at spotting the error

Another posted: ‘He was definitely holding that phone upside down, right? #DeathInParadise.’

One fan stepped into defend the mistake, tweeting: ‘Yes, the phone was upside down and no, the actress wasn’t actually stabbed to death. It’s called make belief. #DeathInParadise.’

Some viewers said it was simply a case of ‘make believe’ but others said it was a rookie error

However another viewer argued the phone was simply an error on the part of the actor.

The BBC1 show returned with its ninth season last night and saw DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) tackle one of his last cases on the island of Saint Marie.

Despite holding his phone upside down and only pressing one number, Charles was able to successfully place a call to the emergency services (pictured) following the attack

The woman’s husband tried to lay the blame at the feet of his estranged brother, Donald, who had recently been back in touch. 

However less than 15 minutes into the show Donald was attacked by a masked intruder wielding a knife. 

Charles, who had just said goodbye to his friend outside his apartment, heard the struggle and returned to help and placed the phone call to emergency services.
