Driver rush to Tesco selling petrol 20p cheaper than the national average | The Sun

DRIVERS stormed to a Tesco petrol station in Cambridgeshire yesterday as its fuel price was 168.9p.

The new price is significantly below the UK's national average which recently hit a new record high.

Today the average price of fuel is 191.24p according to the RAC meaning this petrol station was 22.34p cheaper.

Motorists rushed to the petrol station in Ely to take advantage of this budget fuel yesterday. However, it is unclear if the price has remained low today.

We have asked Tesco for a comment but have yet to receive a response. We will update once we do.

Fuel prices began to rise due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, which caused oil prices to rise.

How can I save money on fuel?

For many driving our vehicles is unavoidable, especially if we have to commute to work.

Talk to your employer about your travel concerns, they may be able to help arrange transport or the opportunity for you to work a certain amount of hours at home.

If possible try and take public transport or walk whenever possible. Public transport can offer season tickets, which may be cheaper than filling up with petrol each week.

Check your social media pages frequently in case there are any updates from friends online.

If you can, avoid premium unleaded fuel as it's more expensive than regular unleaded.

Another tip is to stick to the speed limit, the faster you drive the more fuel your car will consume.
