Though Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William have always been an integral part of the British royal family, they are currently enjoying quite a bit of renewed interest. Following Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s resignation from royal life, and amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Cambridges have emerged as the shining light for the royals.
From Zoom chats to charity meetings and even discussions about their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all eyes are on the Cambridges. At a time when Queen Elizabeth II’s return to the public eye is uncertain, the duo cannot afford any slips ups.
In fact, as we step into a new modern era of royal life, Queen Elizabeth is reportedly watching the Cambridges like a hawk.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been more visible and accessible since Megxit
The Cambridges have always been well-liked in the British press and public. However, when Meghan and Harry stepped onto the scene, there was an absolutely frenzy surrounding the mixed-race American actress. Now that the Sussexes have moved to LA, all eyes are on the Cambridges once again.
In many ways, this has truly pushed Kate to the forefront of royal life. “Meghan has the warmth and accessibility that Diana had, which are some of the qualities that Harry fell in love with when he met her,” royal expert Leslie Carroll told Express. “That said — in Meghan’s absence, and particularly during the coronavirus lockdown, Kate has been compelled to step to the forefront a lot more. Even from behind her keyboard and computer screen, she has become more visible and accessible. She is naturally more diffident than Meghan; the openness with strangers doesn’t come naturally to her, although she can speak candidly on subjects close to her heart, such as parenting.”

Kate Middleton has been involved in some drama recently
Unfortunately being front and center is a recipe for more drama and potential scandals. Kate has been reeling from a recent expose in Tatler Magazine title, “Catherine the Great.” It paints the duchess in an awful light.
“[Journalist Anna Pasternak] manages to slag off [harshly criticize] her mother, makes William look weak and makes Kate look so dull,” royal expert Ingrid Seward told Newsweek.
From the beginning of her marriage to Prince William, Prince Charles warned the duchess that things like this were likely to happen.
When Kate entered into the royal family, Prince Charles warned her about what it meant to be placed on a pedestal in the royal family. “The problem for Kate is, as her father in law said, she’s been put on a pedestal and it’s impossible to stay on a pedestal,” Seward told Newsweek. “There’s only one way and that’s down. She’s a goddess at the moment and everyone is saying how great she is and how hard she works but she can’t really keep up with that. She’s not a goddess, she’s a mom of three children and is probably absolutely exhausted.”

Amid the renewed focus on the Cambridges, the queen is also watching every move they make. “The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be watching very carefully,” royal author Tom Quinn told Daily Mail. Adding “especially given that younger royals in the past have got things very badly wrong and they don’t want that to happen again.”
It looks like we’re going to have to wait to see how Prince William and Kate deal with this new added pressure.
