Great British Bake Off viewers were left in hysterics as one of the contestants sliced three of his fingers within the first fifteen minutes of the show.
Michael Chakraverty, 26, from Scotland, is one of thirteen bakers competing in the tenth series of the popular channel 4 baking show which returned tonight.
But the clearly-nervous contestant ended up having to bandage up his cut fingers, leaving him with no choice but to complete the first challenge – baking a fruit cake – one-handed.
And viewers were left in hysterics following the relatable moment – with many confessing they were fully charmed by the clumsy baker.
‘Michael, 20 minutes into the first episode with three bandaged fingers and a blue glove, is my spirit animal,’ wrote one, while another penned: ‘I’m in love with Michael already.’

As the tent opened its doors for the new series, bakers tackled a fruit cake, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith advising it be packed full of five different types of fruit.
‘It’s about the consistency of the batter, explained Paul. ‘Too thin all the fruit will drop to the bottom, get it right, and it should bake beautifully.’
One viewer fell for Michael’s charms and wrote: ‘I’m already routing for Michael – he’s precious!’

The nervous baker admitted that he was a clutz when he sliced his hand open for the third time and said: ‘This is so stupid!’
Meanwhile, Prue said that the two-and-a-half hour time limit meant there was a ‘real danger they’ll be putting icing on a hot cake.’
But it appeared the danger for one contestant was the cooking utensils rather than the tight cooking schedule, as clumsy Michael cut his hand within five minutes of the challenge beginning.
‘Owi! I need a plaster from somebody,’ he shouted, before making the same mistake a second time.
Then turning to the camera to describe his chai-flavoured fruit cake, Michael continued chopping and said: ‘It’s going to be fine. It’s going to be fine, I’ll just – owh my god, I’ve done it again!’
Sticking the third cut finger into his mouth to suck the blood, the camera zoomed into his other fingers which had since been heavily bandaged by the tent’s medical team.
‘For goodness sake, this is so stupid,’ he said, as he rubbed at his hand.
But Prue was keen to reassure him that everything would be OK and added: ‘It’s the beginning, everyone gets really stressed. Less haste more speed.’

Despite bandaging his hand in three huge plasters, the team ended up giving Michael a blue glove to complete the rest of his bakes
Michael completed the rest of the bake with a blue glove on his hand to prevent the blood from dripping into his cake.
But luckily, his injuries didn’t affect his baking prowess, as the judges raved about his fruit cake.
While Prue said it was ‘beautifully decorated’, Paul told him that it was ‘a very good fruit cake’, while Noel playfully added: ‘Especially as it was only completed with one finger.’
And he also won over the viewers who were charmed by his clumsiness, with many taking to Twitter to praise him.
One wrote: ‘I’m already rooting for Michael. He’s precious!’ while another commented: ‘Michael: Everything is fine, it’s going to be fine. Also Michael: Cuts his hand for the third time in like 30 minutes.’
A further added: ‘Bless Michael cutting himself several times while cutting fruit is not only adorably stupid but also relatable.’
