Healthy eating
Now that she is working from home, Gwyneth said she cooks anywhere from one and three meals a day, and like most working moms, she relies on meal prepping.
‘On Sunday or Monday, I’ll make a great salad dressing (blue cheese, miso, or a French dressing) and a batch of sweet potatoes and roasted beets to use throughout the week,’ she explained.
‘Brad eats the sweet potatoes as a snack every day, and we put them into a smoothie or make a hash.’
She also touted Cooking Light’s ‘Perfect Pot of Lentils’ recipe, which she stores in the refrigerator and pulls out whenever she needs a plant-based protein.
‘As long as I have good produce stocked in my fridge and my premade dressings ready to go, meals and snacks are as simple as throwing a few simple ingredients together,’ she said.
Gwyneth has written five cookbooks, but even she gets stuck in a food rut from time to time. Whenever she needs ideas, she turns to Ina Garten, Chef Ludo, and NYT Cooking — or gets takeout.
The Los Angeles-native has been supporting local restaurants as much as possible amid the coronavirus pandemic, including Felix for pasta kits, The Window at American Beauty for burgers, and TV dinners from Dear John’s.
And while most people have been munching on banana bread and other comfort foods in quarantine, she focused on getting ‘back to basics’ by intermittent fasting and following an Ayurvedic diet based on her dosha, or body type.
The wellness guru also gave her body ‘a reset’ using Alejandro Junger’s CLEAN7 one-week detox eating plan.
‘Pro tip: If you’re on a cleanse, take a date, split it in half, and spread almond butter on each side,’ she advised. ‘If you’ve been cleansing, it tastes like a candy bar.’
Chill: In a recent interview with Shape , Gwyneth revealed that she has actually become more relaxed about her health routine while in quarantine

Wellness and beauty
Gwyneth starts every morning with oil pulling, an ancient Ayurvedic oral hygiene practice that involves swishing coconut oil around the mouth and spitting it out, similar to mouthwash.
She also tongue scrapes, another Ayurvedic practice for oral care and fresh breath, and dry brushes her body to remove dead skin.
‘It’s an amazing way to exfoliate your body,’ she told Redbook in 2016. ‘You take the dry brush and, starting at your feet and working up, sweep it all over your body in light, firm strokes, always brushing toward your heart. It’s fantastic for circulation and it helps smooth cellulite.’
Her morning skin routine includes products from her own line. She uses her $125 GOOPGLOW 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Glow Serum every day as well as the brand’s $125 Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator.
Beauty: The Goop founder pampers her skin with her brand’s GOOPGLOW 20% Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Glow Serum ($125) and Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator ($125)

In a recent interview with Shape, Gwyneth shared that she has actually become more relaxed about her health routine while in quarantine.
‘I was constantly trying to pack in wellness moments, but I wasn’t really decompressing until the weekend or when I went on vacation,’ she admitted.
‘Now I feel different, letting my body go to sleep and wake up in its natural rhythm, having my kids around all the time, eating meals together and having meaningful conversations.
‘We linger at the table; our dinners are an hour and a half long. My heart feels fuller, and my mind feels calmer in that respect.’
Family: Gwyneth has been quarantined with her teenage children Apple, 16, and Moses, 14. The mom said they have been ‘eating meals together and having meaningful conversations’
Getting relaxed: Gwyneth’s biggest splurge is her Healthyline Gemstone Heat Therapy Mat ($1,049), which she said makes her feel like she has ‘been on a vacation for a week’
Cheaper: She is also a fan of the Neck Hammock ($49.99), which is a more affordable option
Relaxation
Mindfulness is always on Gwyneth’s mind, and she has been using apps such as Headspace and The Breathing App to find breathing exercises to ‘do for three minutes during the workday.’
‘I’ve been trying to be more consistent about doing some wellness practices that work for me,’ she noted. ‘I’ve made a commitment to start writing every day for five minutes because I’ve always been scared of journaling and don’t often write things down. It’s a daily micro mental challenge.’
When she is looking to unwind, Gwyneth said Province Apothecary’s $32 Lover’s Oil is ‘the key to an at-home massage. While she never reveals who is rubbing her down, it’s likely her husband Brad.
Gwyneth’s biggest splurge is her $1,049 Healthyline Gemstone Heat Therapy Mat, which she said makes her feel like she has ‘been on a vacation for a week in about ten minutes thanks to the hot stones, far-infrared light, red light, pulsed electromagnetic fields, and negative ions.’
All smiles: Gwyneth and her husband Brad Falchuk, 49, go on walks three to four times a week, and she alluded to getting at-home massages from him
Catching up: The two are often seen wearing masks and chick workout gear while enjoying their evening strolls through their neighborhood
She is also a fan of the Neck Hammock, a far more affordable option that sells for $49.99 on Amazon.
‘You hang it on the doorknob and lie down on the ground to alleviate tech neck,’ she explained.
‘I had not realized how much the normal pace of life was overburdening our bodies, our minds, and our nervous systems,’ she told Shape. ‘As we have been forced into the confines of our own homes, that has brought up a lot of emotional distress for some, and for others it has been very peaceful.
‘In my case, I have experienced both. I have started to settle down in my brain and body. It has given me new perspective about how much I will take on going forward.’
