The Brit Awards are back for their 43rd ceremony, and set to appear on the red carpet is Harry Styles. The singer never fails to impress when it comes to his awards show outfits, but we’re particularly looking forward to seeing his nails.
Harry is the unofficial king of trendy red carpet manicures, and we’d even go as far as to say he’s a driving force behind the man -icure trend: painted, polished and pristinely manicured nails on men. However, Harry doesn’t just opt for a quick gloss and some cuticle work. The former One Direction member – who found fame on The X-Factor in 2010 – goes all out with his nails when the occasion asks for it.
So, from mismatched pastels to a Hailey Bieber-inspired “glazed” colour, we’re taking a look back at some of the occasions when Harry nailed the nail polish brief…
Gothic glam for the 2019 Met Gala
In 2019, Harry put on a show-stopping display of gothic glam at the Met Gala. His black chiffon blouse caused quite the stir, but if you’re able to look past the see-through shirt, you’ll notice that his nails match perfectly with his outfit.
His manicure featured black nails with a glossy top coat, and a few colour-pop aquamarine accents were added to his other nails to add contrast to the look. Extra points go to Harry for not doing the standard “every other nail” design. Instead, he chose nails at random to give a pop of blue.
A touch of gold for the 2021 Grammy Awards
Harry is known for pulling out all the style stops on Grammy Awards red carpets. In 2021, he wore one of our favourite outfits yet; a yellow dogtooth blazer and a lilac feather boa. His nails were also on point if you can look past all those feathers.
He combined his favourite black nail polish with gradient shades of gold to give a gradient-style manicure. We also love how it brought out the gold tones of his elaborate rings.
Fifty shades of green for the 2022 Toronto Film Festival
If we weren’t sure of the fact that Harry is a walking green flag, we definitely were after seeing his appearance at the Toronto Film Festival last year. The singer mixed various shades of green for a very tonal look. Perhaps our favourite detail is the combination of his pea-green nail colour and his dark green handbag.
We also love how Harry swapped his usual gold jewellery for complementary silver rings – our man really does know how to colour coordinate!
Colour-pop blues for the 2022 "Don't Worry Darling" red carpet
We’re still a little bit obsessed with Harry’s Don’t Worry Darling get-up. The whole vibe of his look was very retro – perfect considering the film is set in the 1950s. Blue was very much the theme of the night for Harry, who teamed a light blue shirt with a dark navy blazer.
As for his nails, he went for a bold turquoise blue on six of his nails and a simple glossy topcoat on the other four.
A “Hailey Bieber” glaze for the 2023 Grammy Awards
Hailey Bieber’s ability to influence the world with her manicures peaked last month when Harry appeared on the red carpet wearing a version of her viral nail trend: glazed donut nails.
Harry, of course, put his spin on the look. Instead of opting for a more sheer glaze and a chrome topcoat, like Hailey’s original creation, he chose a block white “Tipex” base coat, which he combined with the chrome effect.
