Homebase reopens another 50 shops – see the full list of 70 now open

DIY retailer Homebase has reopened another 50 stores and it’s revealed when more branches will open for business.

It means there are now 70 open Homebase stores in the UK, with the DIY chain following in the footsteps of rival B&Q by reopening sites.

The hardware chain had initially reopened 20 branches as a trial on April 25.

Homebase CEO Damian McGloughlin said: "It has taken a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment from our teams across all parts of the business, to ensure we are ready to safely welcome customers back through our doors.

"I'm extremely grateful for the dedication shown by every single team member, and to our customers, for the huge support and understanding."

Homebase stores will be opening with "strict controls" in place to keep staff and customers safe.

Stores temporarily shut due to the coronavirus crisis at the end of March, despite Homebase being named as an "essential" retailer.

It continued to operate an online-only business, with the Homebase website remaining open for home delivery orders.

Click and collect was initially available, with customers having to pick up items at the front of closed shops, but the retailer has temporarily stopped this option because of high demand.

As the retailer operated an online-only business, it meant customers couldn't browse and shop in stores.

We've asked Homebase which locations have more than one reopened store and we'll update this article when we know more.

The Sun is also checking what safety measures are in place.

The majority of sores are open 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

As some branches will differ in their opening hours, customers should use the online store finder to check the most up-to-date information.

Homebase has around 160 stores in the UK.

Homebase isn't the only retailer to start reopening branches – Wagmama is reopening four kitchens for delivery-only.

KFC has also started reopening restaurants – so far there are 15 branches open for delivery.

Meanwhile, Burger King has just reopened another eight restaurants.
