EXISTING Sky TV customers are being given the chance to upgrade their plan and get an extra 80 channels – without upping their bill.
The broadcasting giant is upgrading its popular Original bundle to a new Sky Entertainment package, which will include dozens more channels for the same price.
The new package – which includes MTV, Sky Atlantic and Discovery as well as 350 other channels – will also allow customers to personalise their plans for just £20 a month, as we revealed back in December.
At first the new deal was only available to new people joining, but now it is being rolled out to Sky's existing 12 million customers.
Viewers will also be able to add on boosters when they like, such as children's channels and box-sets for £5 a month – but this doesn't include Sky Sports or Cinema.
A spokesman said: “We’re introducing a new TV package called Sky Entertainment, which will let customers make Sky TV their own by personalising it based on what they love to watch.
"All customers will be able to enjoy the new package from January."
Those on the Original deal or any other plan can now get in touch with Sky to upgrade and they will be placed onto a new 18-month contract.
Others that don't want to be tied down to a contract can join for £25 a month instead of £20.
The new system will also make it much easier for customers to switch between deals during the length of their contract.
In the past, customers who opted for extra channels were locked in for up to 18 months, until the end of their contract.
Customers will also be able to add a Sky Cinema and Sports package to Sky Entertainment and have the option of taking them on a fixed term contract or rolling contract basis.
Customers can also stick with their existing package if they're happy and there is no obligation to switch.
