Ikea’s big blue bags are almost as famous as the Swedish brand itself. They are perfect for storing and transporting stuff, as sturdy as they are noticeable, and a godsend if you're moving house or heading off on a long trip.
However, this Friday 15 May their famous Frakta bag is being given a very colourful makeover; rainbow stripes.
Although we have recently got used to seeing rainbows in every window in support of the NHS amid the coronavirus lockdown, these bags will actually be in aid of an equally important issue, LGBTQ+ rights.
The new bag is being sold in honour of Pride month that begins in June. They will cost just £1.50 with all profits going LGBTQ+ charities and causes as chosen by the famed homeware store.
The release of these bags coincides with the International Day Against Homophobia and Biophobia, also known as IDAHOBIT, which is happening this Sunday 17 May.
The eye-catching bags have been created so as to hopefully encourage people to promote equality and fight against daily discrimination.

Peter Jelkeby, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA UK and Ireland, said: “At IKEA, our culture is centred on the value of togetherness. We believe equality is a human right and that everyone deserves a home where they can be themselves.”
These rainbow bags were also on sale last year and proved to be immensely popular with customers, therefore if you would like to get your hands on one you should act quickly.
