Nothing gets past Ryan Reynolds’ mom! On Saturday, June 22, the actor took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a review for Aviation Gin (the liquor he owns) that he apparently wrote using the pseudonym “Champ Nightengale.”
In the review, which awards the drink five out of five stars, “Champ” asserts that he’s not one to “gravitate toward celebrity brands” but both loved and hated Reynolds’ Aviation Gin. The fictional consumer goes on to praise the spirit for being incredibly smooth, but then recalls a (made up) drunken “blur” that resulted from drinking a tad too much of the tasty libation.
In “Champ’s” tall tale he claims that after overdoing on the Aviation Gin, he woke up wearing all of his clothes but in a different city with a woman whom he’d never met before. As he put it: “When I woke up the next day, I mentioned to my wife Linda that last night must have been a REAL blowout because I slept in my clothes … It’s important to note, until that morning, I’d never met anyone named Linda.”
When Reynolds, 42, shared a screenshot of the review on social media and commented: “I loved this review of Aviation Gin someone sent me after I wrote it,” the Deadpool star’s mom, Tammy Stewart Reynolds, was quick to weigh in.
“Ahhhh … yes … I thought I heard my son’s voice in that narrative,” she wrote.

The Canadian actor then replied to his mom using that same sarcastic wit evident in the creative critique of his own liquor. “Mom, you say that about every episode of CSI Miami,” he shot back.
This is hardly the first time the Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place alum has showcased his humor using Aviation Gin, which he purchased in 2018. His out-of-office emails are famous for warranting a chuckle or two, and the latest Aviation Gin ad released earlier this month starring Fyre Festival organizer Andy King pokes fun at how far the event planner (who became famous for his involvement with bottled water) was willing to go to ensure the doomed musical event went off without a hitch.
