BRITAIN'S richest people are worth a combined £2.8 trillion and include a vacuum tycoon and billionaire brothers.

New figures in Oxfam's Survival of the Richest report revealed that the richest 1% were together worth the remarkable sum.


Billionaire brothers Sri and Gopi Hinduja, run the Mumbai-based conglomerate Hinduja Group.

They soared to the top spot in the Sunday Times Rich List 2022 after their wealth grew to £28.47billion in the year to June.

The Hindujas own businesses in automotive, oil, chemicals, banking, IT, media and real estate.

While Sir James Dyson and his family moved up to second in the list after their wealth £6.7billion increase to £23billion in 2022.

Property investors David and Simon Reuben meanwhile were third with £22.26 billion.

While Ukrainian-born Sir Leonard Blavatnik dropped from top spot to fourth.

And then there's Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the 70-year-old founder and boss of chemical giant Ineo.

A Brexit-supporting football obsessive who has a net worth of £15.2billion he had been linked with the potential takeover of footballing powerhouse Manchester United.

Figures showed the top riser was Guillaume Pousaz, the former "beach bum" founder of Checkout.com, who shot up to fifth with a worth of £19billion – up an extraordinary £13billion in a year.

Pousaz rose up the ranks thanks to a growing business and an online sales boom during the pandemic, according to the 2022 list, which only had one UK-born person in the top 10. 

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his heiress wife Akshata Murty hit headlines as they appeared on the annual wealth rankings.

The Chancellor and his billionaire heiress wife Akshata Murty charged in at 222nd thanks to their £730million fortune.

In doing so, the PM became the first frontline politician ever to bag a spot on Britain's Rich List.

The latest ranking of the 250 richest people in Britain also revealed a record 177 billionaires in the UK in 2022.

Throughout 2021 and 2022, the richest 1 per cent across the world pocketed £21 trillion.
