With love from Meghan! Duchess of Sussex sends handwritten notes to women who have found work with the help of her patronage Smart Works

The Duchess of Sussex showed off her calligraphy skills in handwritten notes to women who have been helped by her patronage, Smart Works.
Meghan Markle, 39, sent personalised notes on behalf of the UK-based charity, which helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women return to employment.
In an Instagram Story shared today, the charity revealed Meghan sent notes to four clients from her home in California.
The Duchess of Sussex remains the charity’s patron despite stepping back from royal duties, although her title has changed from ‘royal patron’ to simply ‘patron’.

The bulk of the note was typed on the computer but photos reveal the Duchess wrote each woman’s name by hand and included a short message: ‘Wishing you every success in your new role’ before signing off ‘as ever, Meghan’.
They were included in parcels sent out to women who have benefited from the charity’s services. Further details about the recipients were not revealed.
It comes a week after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey sent shockwaves through the royal family.
Meghan privately visited Smart Works several times before being named as its royal patron in January 2019.
The Duchess made a public visit to the London HQ while pregnant with Archie and launched the Smart Set collection in September 2019.

The initiative saw retailers including Marks & Spencer, Jigsaw and Meghan’s BFF Misha Nonoo sign up to donate an item of clothing to the charity for every one purchased by shoppers.
The Duchess of Sussex remains an active supporter of the charity in the wake of Megxit and has taken part in virtual conversations with clients.
Her title has changed from Royal Patron to Patron.
Earlier this month Prince Harry and Meghan Markle championed the work of Smart Works in a website overhaul marking International Women’s Day.
Speaking last year, Smart Works CEO Kate Stephens said the Duchess of Sussex, who is pregnant with her second child, revealed she is still actively involved in their work.

She said: ‘Whenever she comes to see us, she always gets involved in dressing and coaching our clients as well as bringing her ideas to the table too.’
Kate revealed how Meghan began visiting Smart Works ahead of the royal wedding in May 2018, when she was getting to know different charities in the UK.
The CEO explained that the Duchess ‘really connected’ with the mission of the charity and it’s work.
She said: ‘She saw the impact we were able to have, in terms of both the clothes and the coaching, in helping women.’
Kate detailed how Meghan continued to work with the charity over a year before she was announced as their patron.
