My husband doesn't understand why I need a summer break away from him and our sons

DEAR DEIDRE: PLANNING our summer holiday has turned into a row over me wanting some time for myself.

My husband and I are 35. We have been married for 12 years and our boys are ten and nine.

The plan was we’d all go to a holiday cottage for a week then my husband would take the boys camping for a week while I went back to work.

I was excited at the thought of no cooking or cleaning for a week – but then I found out I am due another week off work.

My husband now wants me to join them camping and doesn’t understand why I don’t want to go.

It’s not like I am thinking of cheating while they are away but I couldn’t seem to get it over to him that I want a break.
