DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner likes a drink – far too much.
He used to booze a couple of nights a week but always liked to get drunk.
While furloughed he has been drinking every night. He spends his time on group chats with his mates and ignores me.
Sex is terrible when he’s drunk. I am 39 and my partner is 44.
We have been together for two years. I tried talking to him about how fed-up I feel.
He says not to worry and that it is all in hand.
But I finally had enough after a night when he got legless and left a load of mess for me to clear up while he fell unconscious into bed.
I told him enough is enough. Chances are he will be made redundant when furlough ends and what will our life together be like then?
The trouble is I do love him.

DEIDRE SAYS: This level of binge-drinking – and denial – is dangerous.
Tell your partner you love him and it is awful to watch someone you love destroying their health.
See drinkaware.co.uk for guidelines and tips on how he can cut down.
He is probably worried about the future, so help him start making practical plans in case his job does end.
