Neighbours makes reference to petition to save the show in touching scene

Neighbours has made reference to the campaign to save the show.

The Aussie serial drama’s fate was confirmed earlier this year, after production company Fremantle admitted that it has been unable to find another broadcast partner in the UK, following Channel 5’s decision to drop the show from their schedules.

Devoted fans were heartbroken at the prospect of losing Ramsay Street forever, and thus they wasted little time in fighting to save the series from the axe.

One fan, named Edward Skylover, launched a petition, which ultimately garnered a whopping 66,000 signatures!

The efforts did not go unnoticed, that’s for sure, and Friday’s (April 29) edition of the serial drama saw the show pay tribute to Edward, with a little on-screen reference.

Terese Willis (Rebekah Elamloglou) and Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) were in high spirits, as they put the final preparations in order for Fashion Week, which kicks off next week.

‘The livestream tickets to the show are selling like crazy!’, exclaimed an excited Chloe.

Terese’s interest was piqued, prompting her to ask Chloe just who it is that’s ‘managing’ the stream.

Chloe replied: ‘Edward Skylover. The buzz he’s generated is huge’.

How lovely!

Neighbours evidently appreciates Edward’s efforts, as do fans of the show.

The long-running soap will reach an end on August 1, after an incredible 37 years on air.

Neighbours airs weekday sat 1:45pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
