Neighbours' Paul Robinson pays off doctor for fake diagnosis in huge betrayal

Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) has sunk to a devastating new low in Neighbours, as he paid off a doctor to provide him with a ‘believable’ diagnosis.

The soap’s resident schemer has been on a mission to win the affection of wife Terese Willis (Rebekah Elamloglou), after they split last year.

Terese, meanwhile, made it quite clear that she couldn’t even entertain the possibility of reuniting with him unless he was able to turn over a new leaf.

Paul certainly put in the effort at first, attending therapy sessions with her and putting his recovery before all else, but it didn’t take him long to revert to form.

Upon receiving a clean bill of health from Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), the hotelier did little celebrating, as he became concerned that Terese would move back out now that he’s on the mend.

He therefore claimed to be extremely poorly, and demanded a second opinion from a specialist. Terese, meanwhile, became worried about her husband, informing Susan (Jackie Woodburne) that she’s scared of living a life without him.

With emotions running high, she kissed Paul, and the duo subsequently agreed to get back together during Friday’s (February 4) edition of the Australian soap.

Word of their reunion spread, receiving mixed reviews from Ramsay Street’s finest. Karl, however, was more concerned with Paul’s health, as he and David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) analysed his test results in more detail, failing to understand why Paul was supposedly in pain.

Paul, meanwhile, received a visit from the specialist he’d hired – a man named Oscar Russell (Adam Rowland).

Oscar was a specialist alright, but it seems his speciality is in deceit, as he agreed to give Paul whatever he wanted for the ‘right price’.

And what Paul wanted was a fictional diagnosis, one that’s ‘believable’, as he told the so-called doctor that he and Terese are in a vital stage of their relationship, and therefore he needs to be ill for a few more weeks.

It appears as though the soap legend isn’t the reformed man he claimed to be after all! The question is: will he get away with his manipulation and deception?

Or will Karl’s snooping prove to be his downfall?

Neighbours continues Friday February 4 at 1:45pm or 6pm on Channel 5.
