Single mum falls for stranger in 48 hours – and marries him 46 days later

A woman fell in love in just two days – and married her new-found partner weeks after meeting him for the first time.

Chelsey Nye, from Utah in the US, knew Carlin was the one immediately.

Back in 2015, she gave birth to a baby girl called Mia.

Her daughter was born at 27 weeks and rushed to intensive care as she weighed a tiny 1.8lbs.

And to make matters even trickier, the 19-year-old was preparing to raise the newborn baby alone.

The “heartbroken” teen spent two months in the hospital caring for her little girl.

It wasn’t until she got a Facebook message from a stranger that her life changed forever.

Chelsey received a DM from a man called Carlin, who invited her to join a church group for single adults.

According to 7News, she recalled: “I reluctantly said yes. The next day, I met him at the church for the activity. He was tall, with dark hair and dark eyes.

“I remember thinking how handsome and fun he was to be around.”

Just after the mum met Carlin for the first time, baby Mia was discharged from hospital.

The new mum turned to Carlin for support and chatted away with him online.

She invited him to watch a film with them that evening – and he turned up on the doorstep with flowers and nappies.

Chelsey instantly knew he was The One – and the pair continued going on dates.

Nine days after meeting, Carlin popped the question and his new girlfriend said yes.

Their whirlwind romance led to a wedding 46 days after meeting each other – and they couldn’t be happier.

The couple had two more kids – Brielle, in 2017, and Ryker, in 2018.

Then in 2020, Carlin signed paperwork to adopt Mia.

Chelsey said: “We wanted Carlin to have the legal rights to match the love he’d given Mia over the last five years since the day she came home from the hospital.

“Carlin had stepped up to fill the shoes of being a father… because he loved me so much…

“On June 1, 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic, the adoption was finalised.

“That morning, we sat around our kitchen table, with our three beautiful kids and family members, and the court joining us virtually.

“It was one of the most incredible moments.”
