Kate donned a smart green Alexander McQueen coat to board the Royal Train last night for the first of nine stops on their 1,250-mile tour of the UK.
She teamed the look with accessories including £10 pearl drop earrings from Accessorize and finished the ensemble with a Maple Leaf Tartan Scarf by York Scarves, first seen in 2016.
The Maple Leaf tartan was the official national tartan of Canada designed in 2011.
The colours represent the four colours of the maple leaf through the seasons: green in summer, gold in early autumn, red at first frost and brown when the leaf has fallen.
Kate chose to wear her glossy brunette hair in loose, bouncy waves and opted for minimal make-up, with eye shadow to draw attention upwards.
Kate also demonstrated her thrifty approach to dressing by re-wearing her Alexander McQueen coat and donning a tartan scarf first worn in 2016 to kick off her royal train tour last night

Before beginning the lengthy journey, the couple took time to meet transport workers at the station to hear about their experiences of working throughout the pandemic.
The royals were also treated to a special performance by Shakin’ Stevens, with Kate swaying to the music and tapping her foot.
The trip has been organised so the couple can thank frontline workers, volunteers, care home staff, teachers, schoolchildren and young people as well as hear about their experiences and sacrifices throughout this life-changing year.
Details of the engagements are being kept secret until the couple’s arrival to avoid large crowds gathering.
