Stan Grant will become the solo host of Q+A from August 1, the ABC has announced this morning.
Grant has been sharing the hosting duties with Virginia Trioli and David Speers since June 2021, when Hamish Macdonald left the role to return to The Project on Network 10.

The broadcaster is also moving the show back to its old timeslot following Media Watch on Monday night on August 1, for a once-off special. The ABC has confirmed this is not a permanent move from its current Thursday timeslot.
The move comes a little over a year after executive producer Erin Vincent told The Age and Sydney Morning Herald that the multiple-host role had been a successful approach for the show, despite some disappointing viewer figures.
“The rotation of hosts is working very well, especially given the current lockdowns, so we will be continuing with that,” Vincent said, at a time when the country was in the grip of lockdowns and the show was limited in its ability to move around the country, and live studio audiences were severely restricted in capacity. “It’s a fresh approach for Q+A and the audience response has been strong.”
