The Jeremy Kyle Show’s most devastating moments including tragic death

After ITV’sThe Jeremy Kyle Show was taken off air in 2019,a recent Channel 4 documentary has investigated the long-running TV programme.

Death on Daytime including harrowing claims from guests who’d appeared on the show, as well as interviews from staff who’d worked on the daytime TV show about what went on behind the scenes.

Following the release of the documentary, here’s some of the shocking moments that played out on the ITV show…

When the show was taken off air following the death of a contestant

Steve Dymond tragically died on 9 May 2019just days after appearing on ITV’s The Jeremy Kyle Show.

The 63 year old had appeared on the show after his fiancee, Jane Callaghan, accused him of cheating on her.

Steve ‘failed’ the programme’s lie detector test and the tragedy has since been explored further in the recent documentary Death on Daytime.

Appearing on talkRADIO earlier this week, Jeremy said that there “are two sides to every story”.

The couple who found out that they were half-brothers

After a DNA test confirmed that couple Paul and Lee were long lost half brothers, their distress was played out on TV for shocks.

The pair, who’d met on a dating site, appeared on the show after Lee’s mum believed that Paul looked like her ex-husband Ron.

Lee said: “It makes me sick. It makes me basically feel horrible. I can't describe it.”

The pair later revealed that they’d moved on and remained close as brothers.

When a guest was harassed on Twitter because of her appearance

After appearing on the show, Gemma Swift found herself targeted by online Twitter trolls.

Following the trolling, Jeremy welcomed Gemma back on the show after paying £10,000 for her to get some dental work.

Speaking on the show, she explained: “I'm a whole different person. It has changed my life.

“I can look in the mirror again and not worry about anything.”

When a mum revealed that she’d got her daughter to sleep with sugar daddies

Appearing on the show, one mother revealed that she encouraged her daughter to sleep with sugar daddies to pay for their cosmetic surgery.

Georgina Clarke admitted that her daughter Kayla Morris had expressed a desire to look like Katie Price since the age of 11.

However, Gemma mentioned that she felt bad and knew that what she had been doing wasn’t right.

The time Jeremy got involved and called a guest a ‘thug’

After a guest had threatened his pregnant girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Jeremy called the man “a horrible little thug” and an “idiot”.

He said: “I just want to ask you something. Who's got a criminal record for domestic violence?”

The host added: “You want to take me on? You come out and call him violent. I'm not sure I believe that from a man who has been convicted in court for being a horrible little thug.”

The segment where Jeremy was accidentally knocked to the floor

In one show, Jeremy was accidentally knocked to the floor after a guest came rushing from backstage.

The segment was called ‘I'll prove we're not sisters – can you prove you're not on drugs?' and showed Emma bringing her sister Kelly on the programme to discuss her relationship with drugs.

Speaking of the accident, the TV presenter said: “I'm just back from holiday. I opened my mouth and get flattened by that.”

When a man cut off his ears to look like a parrot

Guest Ted Richards admitted that his love for body modification had meant he’d had his ears cut off so he could look like his pet parrots.

He’d also has some subdermal star implants in his head, horns that he screws into his head as well as multiple piercings and over 100 tattoos.

Despite Jeremy initially thinking Ted was “weird”, Ted’s happiness soon showed him that breaking the norm was nothing to be afraid of.

Explaining his choice, the contestant said: “Obviously I'm not going to look exactly like them. They have their eyes on the side of their head.

“But if I could have my eyes moved I would.”
