A trio of colleagues have revealed how they started a ‘casual throuple’ because they are ‘so horny’ they always end up sleeping together.
Bishop Black, 36, from London, Lina Bembe, 28, from Mexico, and Carmen Canela, 26, from Spain all met at work and live in Berlin.
‘First and foremost, we’re dear friends,’ Lina said.
‘But we are also horny and it just more or less transpires that way.
‘We don’t think about labels or anything definitive.

‘We’re just friends who happen to be sexually intimate with each other and have a loving connection.
‘There’s nothing romantic – in a normative sense – about our thing, but you can indeed call it a relationship.’
Bishop, a video and stage performer, and Lina, a performer and director, were the first to meet during a casting at a festival.
The pair were originally supposed to work together but the project didn’t go ahead, so they ended up becoming close friends.
A few years later, fate stepped in as the pair met photographer Carmen, who had been chatting to Lina about a potential collaboration and had also run into Bishop on a random night out in Berlin.

Just like other couples, the trio enjoy date nights out at restaurants and also enjoy cooking meals at home but are polyamorous and have no rules on who they can sleep with.
And the fun doesn’t end there, with Bishop saying a major benefit of their set-up is not having the pressure of a conventional relationship.
‘The best part of being in a throuple is open communication with each other,’ he said.
‘There’s three times the fun. We keep things as casual as we want – we understand that friendship comes first.
‘But we are definitely in love with each other.’
‘I met Lina first whilst on a casting at a festival,’ Bishop added.
‘We were originally cast to work together but the film ended up not going ahead in the end. We met a few times after that and became friends.

‘I met Carmen while out in Berlin at a coffee place. I knew about her as I had seen her work on Instagram and liked it.
‘We ended up doing a shoot together and became friends.
‘I had been adamant not to tamper a work relationship with sex but I think we were pretty into each other.’
A few weeks and the trio met up for dinner and drinks, which would soon lead them into the bedroom.

They were all feeling frisky and so decided to have a threesome and have since formed a ‘casual throuple’.
The trio now go out for dinner dates, cook meals at home and before the pandemic would go also go out drinking together at bars.
Albeit in a throuple, Bishop, Lina and Carmen consider themselves friends who happen to be sexually intimate with each other and share a loving connection.
The throuple’s family and friends are very ‘progressive’ and accepting of their relationship.

Carmen said: ‘My closest friends are family to me and we are always respectful with each other.
‘My mum knows about our relationship, she just laughs very awkwardly about my whole life – but she is sweet and very supportive.’
Unlike most three-way relationships, theirs doesn’t have any restrictions or rules.
Lina said: ‘No one was dating anyone at first.
‘The three of us just happened to be friends with similar proclivities.

‘I feel good about having friends I can trust and feel intimate with the way I do with Bishop and Carmen and I really hate when people try to put labels on connections that simply don’t need labels.’
As for how and when they have sex, it’s a very loose arrangement and there’s no jealousy if two of them meet up without the third.
Whenever they have a misunderstanding, Bishop, Lina and Carmen will sit down and talk face-to-face with one another but give each other enough space to process things.

Carmen added: ‘Of course, there are sometimes misunderstandings like in every relationship.

‘We don’t have a protocol but we definitely think it’s best to talk face-to-face and don’t assume anything.
‘We believe in having adequate space to process things.’
Each member of the throuple brings something different to the romance, which they say helps to keep things in balance.
Carmen said: ‘Lina is very caring, an amazing listener and she always knows what to say, for me, she is always on point and I love that about her.
‘Bishop is extremely creative, funny and deep, I am sure people who don’t really know him well say he is a very cold person but not at all, he is sweet and he truly cares about the people around him.
‘I am blessed to have them in my life, I really love them.’
The trio don’t live together and don’t plan to do so anytime soon, nor do they want kids.
Instead, they prefer to take things day-by-day and cherish every moment they spend together.
Carmen said: ‘I don’t think so much about the future, I try to work on thinking on the present and the moments we are together.
‘If in 10 years we are still in each other’s lives, I’m sure I’ll be happy – but if that’s not the case, I am very blessed to have had the connection I have with them right now.’
Lina added: ‘I want our friendship to continue evolving and to be able to see each one of us becoming better, happier versions of ourselves.
‘I want to continue cultivating the existing bonds of care and trust that exist between us.’
The throuple wants to showcase their love to the world and so have recently created a profile on Lustery, an erotic website, to lift the stigma around less traditional relationship set-ups.
‘Our understanding of the concept ‘couples’ is broad,’ co-founder of Lustery Paulita Pappel said.
‘We like to include any loving relationship however unconventional, as long as there is a real connection and intimacy in sex.’
