Troian Bellisario is not fully ready to get back into her old clothes after giving birth.
The former “Pretty Little Liars” actress, 33, gave birth to her first child with husband Patrick J. Adams, a girl, just 10 months ago.
And although she hit the red carpet in a sleek black Jason Wu gown on Monday at a screening of her upcoming film “Where’d You Go, Bernadette,” Bellisario told InStyle that she’s not feeling glamorous quite yet.
“I’m just getting out of the sweatpants phase,” she explained. “I don’t know how my mom did it. She was a mom in the ’80s, but I saw pictures of her in silk shirts and beautiful power suits. I was like, ‘Mom, yesterday, I put on a blouse for the first time, and within two seconds, there was breast milk and carrots all over it.’ It’s pointless to me. It’s a shocker if I wear jeans.”
Bellisario added that she consciously thinks about the ways that she compares herself to others besides her own mother, including (and especially) the people she follows on social media.
“What’s challenging for me — and this is my own personal struggle — is sometimes, I’ll read about a mom who’s struggling and I will actually feel worse about myself because I’ll say, ‘Oh, she has it way worse than me, I shouldn’t be complaining.’ Or, ‘I shouldn’t be tired because she’s done so much more than me,’” she said. “And the same thing can happen when I follow my friends who don’t have kids yet and they’re out going to Burning Man. I’m like, ‘Screw you guys!’”
Judging by all the stylish outfits she’s been sporting on her latest press tour, it seems the new mom has gained some confidence — and a killer wardrobe.
