UK set for another four heatwaves this summer with temperatures as hot as Spain

Brits are being told to prepare for Spanish weather as the UK could be faced with another four heatwaves this summer.

This comes after the Britain experienced a heatwave on Friday 17 June, with temperatures soaring to 32.7C. The high temperatures are said to be due to the high pressure and 40C air flowing up from Spain and Portugal.

The Weather Company's Leon Brown revealed that the UK may go through more heatwaves as early as July. He also said that temperatures could surpass Britain's recent 32.7C heatwave.

Ahead of Friday's high temperatures, a level three Heat Health Alert was issued by The Met Office, who warned that the weather could cause increased health risks to vulnerable people.

Leon told the Mail on Sunday: "More heatwaves imported from the Continent to the UK are forecast this summer, each reaching at least 28C – and likely higher – and each lasting several days."

It's believed that the second half of July could include another heatwave, and two more heatwaves could occur in August and September.

Leon added: "We should see well into the 30s – 36C would not be at all surprising."

If the mercury reaches high thirties, Britain will be facing temperatures as high as Spain, which is also predicted to have temperatures reach up to 43C.

Southern France is also experiencing mega heatwaves as Paris had its hottest day in June reaching 42C.

However, Becky Mitchell from the Met Office revealed to The Sun that they are "not predicting heatwaves at this stage".

Despite Friday's heatwave, Britain faced mighty showers over the weekend, causing the Met Office to warn Britons to stay inside due to lightning.

Speaking about the drastic change in weather, Becky explained: “It felt like it was just getting into summer but it's cooler now.

"Lots of places in the UK have seen a temperature drop of about ten to 15 degrees in some places, which is massive."

Whilst temperatures have cooled down, the Met Office did reveal that the mercury could reach the high 20s on Wednesday and Thursday for this week's Glastonbury Festival.
