IF you are hungry for love this Valentine’s Day, the supermarkets have got it covered.

For as little as £14 you and your partner can feast on a tasty starter, main, sides and dessert with a bottle of wine thrown in. Who said you can’t be romantic in a pandemic? Sex and Relationships Contributing Editor Georgette Culley and her partner – “ butler-in-the-buff” Ben – give their verdict on dine-in deals from seven stores and rate them out of ten.

TESCO

Starter, main, side, veg, dessert and drink £15

Ben: “The antipasti platter is simple but tasty. Our main dish – salmon en croute with lemon butter sauce – is succulent and complemented by the potato and butternut gratin and green veg sides. But the raspberry and passionfruit cheesecake slices are heavenly. And it’s all washed down with a crisp, light rosé wine.”

RATING: 8/10

ASDA

Starter, main, sides, dessert + drink or chocs £15

Ben: “We tuck into a substantial Scotch egg – my favourite of all the starters. As a seafood lover it can’t get much better than a scallop, prawn and cheese en croute for a main. Sides are garlic bread and mini jacket pots. Yes, it is a bit beige but it’s OK for a treat. And the ganache is delicious. This is pub grub in the comfort of your own home.”

RATING: 8/10

M&S

Starter, main, side, dessert, chocs and drink £20

Georgie: “The Camembert is creamy with a smoky kick. We follow it with a tender rump steak with peppercorn sauce, although Ben pinched most of mine. But the meal could do with veggies. Heart-shaped churros are the perfect Valentine dessert as are the box of chocolates. I even let Ben off butler duties to enjoy some.”

RATING: 9/10

MORRISONS

Starter, main, side, veg, dessert and drink £15

Georgie: “The vegan ‘chorizo’ palmier is so convincing I have to check the ingredients. And the heart-shape is the perfect touch. The mushroom and leek bake is delicious while the choc pud is rich and gooey – definitely the food of love. You can even dip strawberries in to feed your partner. A very, romantic meal for two.”

RATING: 9/10

SAINSBURY'S

Starter, main, side, dessert + drink or chocs £20

Ben: “I’ve heard oysters are an aphrodisiac so I try my luck. But judging by Georgie’s reaction, it is her first and last. Still, I enjoyed them. The mac and cheese is the ultimate comfort dinner and the side of green veg is a welcome choice after all that stodge. The GU key lime pie is refreshing, as is the bottle of white wine.”

RATING: 7/10

CO-OP

Starter, main, side, dessert and drink £15

Georgie: “The tomato and vegetable tarts are nice and light. Lasagne is one of my fave dishes so Ben doesn’t get much of a look in – he keeps busy filling my glass with the smooth Rioja wine. As a cheese-fiend the dauphinoise potatoes aren’t quite cheesy enough for my liking. But the raspberry panna cotta is creamy and delicious.”

RATING: 7/10

ALDI

Starter, main, side, dessert and drink £14.05

Georgie: “The veg Thai roses look like some-thing you’d find in a restaurant. And we can’t believe the no-beef pie is vegan. The greens are a tasty, healthy side, but we also add chips from our freezer. The best bit is, unlike after heavier meat dishes, we have tons of energy left for the bedroom.

Perhaps, vegans do make better lovers afterall.”

RATING: 10/10
