What's on the new 'limited' McDonald's menu including nuggets and McFlurries

MCDONALD'S fans can once again get their hands on their favourite grub as the fast food chain has reopened 39 branches today.

You can place your order from the drive-thru if that's available or via takeaway if you live locally, but you won't be able to sit in restaurants.

And the decision to only open branches in the south of England has lead to some frustrated fans feeling like the chain "hates the north".

Huge queues have already been spotted at reopened restaurants – although the chain has warned that it will shut up shop if they become too long.

There's also a £25 limit per car on the amount customers can order when visiting the drive-thru and shoppers will have to pay by contactless payment.

Before you rush over to Maccies though, you might want to check out what's on the menu.

What items are included on the reduced McDonald's menu?

MCDONALD'S has confirmed it'll be running a reduced menu at reopened restaurants.

This is because the chain will have less staff working at one time so they can maintain social distancing measures.

Here's what's being sold:

Main Menu:

  • Cheeseburger
  • Hamburger
  • Double Cheeseburger
  • Big Mac
  • Quarter Pounder with Cheese
  • McChicken Sandwich
  • Filet-O-Fish
  • Chicken McNuggets
  • Chicken Selects
  • Vegetable Deluxe
  • Veggie Dippes

Sides & Desserts:

  • Fries
  • Mozzarella Dippers
  • Core McFlurry (Oreo, Maltesers, Smarties)
  • Fruit Bag

  • White Coffee

  • Fruit Shoot
  • Water
  • Happy Meal Water

Happy Meal Variants:

  • Happy Meal – Cheeseburger
  • Happy Meal – Four Nuggets
  • Happy Meal – Veggie Dippers

The chain has said it's not running a full menu as it was before the coronavirus lockdown and only core products will be available to buy.

It says the limited menu is necessary for staff safety, as the reopened restaurants will have fewer staff working at one time.

The limited options still include fan favourites, such as Happy Meals, Big Macs and McNuggets though.

But the bad news is, there will be no breakfast items – this is down to the new opening times.

Instead of opening doors for early morning orders, Maccies will operate between 11am and 10pm, hence the lack of McMuffins and bacon rolls on the menu.

The restaurant chain had also closed off seating and children's play areas, and started using sticky tape to mark out boxes on floors to indicate safe distances.

McDonald's took the decision to temporarily close all 1,350 restaurants on March 23,  ahead of the government's lockdown measures due to coronavirus.

Even though all restaurants were ordered to close, they were allowed to continue to operate a takeaway service.

But at the time, McDonald's said it couldn't guarantee the safety of customers and staff and thought it was best to shut up shop.

Now, after months of planning, the fast food giant is back up and running – although there are some major changes to the way it operates.

Maccies is not the only fast-food chain to trial reopening stores – KFC has already opened 500 branches for takeaways and deliveries.

Burger King has also pledged to open 20 stores a week until its entire 500 restaurant empire is operating.

And Greggs has reopened a small number of stores as it continues to trial safety measures for staff and customers amid the coronavirus outbreak.
