Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have two children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Before the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, the two sisters held the highest position for females in the line of succession for the British throne.
The Duke and Duchess of York’s oldest daughter, Beatrice, celebrated her 31st birthday on Aug. 8 and her father sent her a special message via social media, however, Andrew probably wishes that post never went out and promptly deleted it. Here’s the blunder that showed up on the prince’s account before it was taken down and replaced with a proper post.
The embarrassing post on Beatrice’s birthday from Prince Andrew
The Express noted that Andrew (or someone on his social media team who may be out of a job now) posted a birthday tribute to Beatrice on Twitter.
The tweet read, “Happy Birthday Princess Beatrice! 🎉 Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes! #HappyBirthdayHRH.” It included a collage of photos of Andrew with his daughter. The problem was that it was the wrong daughter. All of the photos were actually of the prince and Eugenie, his younger daughter, who doesn’t celebrate her birthday until March.
Someone thankfully caught the mistake and deleted the tweet but unfortunately for Andrew screenshots live forever. The royal or his social media team did replace the pics with a collage of Beatrice and her father on both Twitter and Instagram.
Sarah Ferguson, other royals also post birthday wishes
Beatrice’s mother, or whoever runs her social media accounts, didn’t mix up the princesses and made sure to post several snaps of her eldest daughter over the years.
Other royals including the queen and Prince Philip shared a photo of their granddaughter with the caption, “Today is Princess Beatrice of York’s 31st Birthday. Princess Beatrice is the first child of @hrhthedukeofyork and Sarah, Duchess of York, and fifth grandchild of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.”
Princess Eugenie also sent her big sis a birthday wish and her post made fans smile.
“You have been bossing it since before I was born and continue to be the most wonderful person, friend and big sister… Happy Birthday to you Beabea!! Xx,” Eugenie captioned a series of pics of the siblings together.
How Beatrice spent her special day
Hello! previously reported that Beatrice had planned to celebrate turning 31 by having a vegan dinner party with her friends and her beau, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
The princess and Mozzi made their first public appearance together at London’s National Portrait Gala on March 12, 2019, and since then rumors about a possible engagement have been swirling. It’s been reported that things between them are quite serious so royal fans were a little bummed that Mozzi didn’t propose to Beatrice on her birthday. However, many believe that he will pop the question in the very near future. So stay tuned.
