A bride’s sister announced her pregnancy during her spiteful maid of honour speech on her sibling’s big day.
Taking to Reddit a guest at the wedding, who is believed to be from the US, explained the ‘cringeworthy’ situation.
She claimed the maid of honor couldn’t stand not being the centre of attention during her younger sister’s wedding, and started off the speech by saying: ‘We’ve heard enough about my sister for one day, I’m a little sick of it’.
It ended on a bombshell when she revealed the bride’s secret pregnancy, which she’d not even told her parents about yet, saying: ‘Can’t wait to meet the little one.’
Commenters were horrified by the woman’s selfish behavior, although many questioned why the bride trusted her with the news in the first place if she knows what she’s like.

The post read: ‘Maid of honor speech gave me physical cringe. Okay I’ve been waiting to post this story for a few weeks now.
‘This wedding occurred in June but I had to wait to post as not to dox myself. I recently attended a wedding with my boyfriend. It was his male cousin getting married.
‘The wedding itself started off fine. We had heard rumors that there was some drama among the bride’s party particularly with the maid of honor which was the bride’s older sister.

‘Anyway they have a nice ceremony, nice cocktail hour and we all sit down to eat. Here’s where it gets good.
She continued: ‘The first two speeches from the best man and the bride’s father are fine.
‘Nothing crazy just your standard speech at a wedding. Then comes the maid of honor.
‘She walks up to the front and grabs the mic. First thing she says is, “I didn’t write anything down I figured I’d wing it” which at first I thought, “Okay whatever works for you”, but my boyfriend felt it showed she didn’t care enough to put the effort in.
‘Anyway she then says, “Honestly we’ve heard enough about my sister for one day. I’m a little sick of it”. Then proceeds to go off thanking both parties and a few others.
‘Doesn’t say a word about her sister (the bride) or the groom. She then ends the speech by saying, “Can’t wait to meet the little one.”
Some people seemed to blame the bride for the mishap, and said she should have known what to expect from her sister
‘The whole room went silent. Apparently the bride was 6 weeks along and only her sister knew. Not even her parents. The bride looks mortified.
‘The rumors we heard after were that the maid of honor couldn’t stand to not be the center of attention during events so she just had to be the one to tell everyone that her sister was pregnant. It was such an awkward after party.’
The post racked up nearly 3,000 likes with many rushing to the comments to leave their own thoughts, with one saying they couldn’t believe she didn’t ‘get kicked out of the wedding’.
‘Sounds like an older sis with a lot of jealousy issues,’ another added, while one predicted that the sister will never change because she clearly has no self awareness.
Many worried about the bride’s news being announced before she and her husband were ready.
One person said: ‘There’s a reason people wait until the second trimester to announce their pregnancy. Big sis is going to look like an even bigger jerk if they end up miscarrying.’
Another said: ‘No, I think her position as a “jerk” is pretty well secure no matter what happens with the pregnancy. (Positive wishes for a healthy little one).
‘The problem isn’t that she told someone early on, it’s that she told her snake of a sister,’ another wrote.
However, some even blamed the bride for choosing her sister to be maid of honour.
One person said: ‘The bride has to know how her sister acts. She made her MOH and gave her a mic. When people show you who they are, believe them.’
Another wrote: ‘What gets me is that the bride knows her sister. Knows exactly what her sister is like.
‘Either was pressured into having her sister as the MOH or thought her sister would shape up.
‘Now has the day scarred by either being a doormat or by a horrible misjudgment of character.
Someone else said: ‘That’s the first thing I thought. And if you know your sister is like this, why would you tell her of all people about your pregnancy?’
