However it appeared to be a girls’ day out for Zara and Maude, who was bridesmaid at the royal’s 2011 wedding, and their pair looked to be enjoying themselves as they joked around in front of the cameras.

Meanwhile Dolly brought a splash of colour to proceedings in a seafoam green tweed jacket with velvet detailing on the pockets and collar.

Proving she’s not afraid to take a style risk, Dolly eschewed a matching hat in favour of one in a fresh shade of pink. Dolly finished the look with pretty pink heels.

Still civil: Estranged royal couple Peter and Autumn Phillips put on a united front as they arrived together for day one of the Cheltenham Festival

Public front: The couple, who announced their separation last month, proved they remain on good terms as they strode into Cheltenham Racecourse side by side

Elsewhere Zara’s brother Peter Phillips arrived with his estranged wife Autumn.

The couple, who announced their separation last month, proved they remain on good terms despite their split as they strode side-by-side into Cheltenham Racecourse.

It is the first time Canadian-born Autumn, 41, has been seen in public since they announced their split in a public statement last month.
