Are flights cancelled today? Full list of airlines affected

HUNDREDS of flights have been disrupted today as airlines delay or cancel flights due to the weather brought on by Storm Eunice in the UK.

Winds of up to 100mph are expected to hit, causing mass disruption to flights.

Here is the latest update for UK airlines and tour operators.

British Airways

British Airways has reportedly cancelled at least 80 European and domestic flights to and from Heathrow and London City airports.

The airline said on Twitter: "The arrival flow rate at London Heathrow is being reduced due to gale force winds.

"If you want to change your flight, send us a DM with more information and we'll be happy to take a look at this for you.

"Like other airlines, we're expecting extreme weather conditions at airports across the UK as a result of Storm Eunice, which will cause significant disruption.

"Safety is our number one priority, and we're cancelling a number of flights."

EasyJet

EasyJet has also been forced to cancel a number of flights from Gatwick and Bristol Airport.

An easyJet flight from Bordeaux to Gatwick attempted to land twice before the plane flew all the way back to its starting point in southwest France, according to The Independent.

The airline reportedly told passengers: “We’re very sorry that your flight has now been diverted back to Bordeaux.

"This is due to poor weather conditions in London Gatwick, which are below safe operating limits.”

An easyJet spokesperson said: "Due to strong winds impacting parts of the UK today, like other airlines we are experiencing some disruption to our flying programme and have been required to cancel a small number of flights to and from the UK."

The airline is urging customers to contact their package holiday provider directly to discuss refunds instead of going through the airline.

EasyJet tweeted: "If you booked a (package) holiday through a third party such as Love Holidays or On The Beach, with an easyJet flight included, please contact them directly regarding your refund."

Jet2

Jet2 has cancelled a "small number of flights" to and from the UK today, but has assured customers most of the planned trips are expected to go ahead.

A spokeswoman said: "Due to strong winds impacting parts of the UK today, like other airlines we are experiencing some disruption to our flying programme and have been required to cancel a small number of flights to and from the UK.

“We are doing all possible to minimise the impact of the weather disruption for our customers and have notified those on cancelled flights in advance with the option of transferring to an alternative flight free of charge or receiving a refund, as well as providing hotel accommodation and meals for customers who require them.

"We continue to advise all customers due to fly with us today to check the status of their flights on our flight Tracker page for real-time information and to allow extra time to travel to the airport due to the impact of the weather on local public transport services.

“While this is outside of our control, we would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused by the weather. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.”

London City Airport has cancelled all flights until 4:30pm, while a large number of flights have been cancelled at London Heathrow.

Gatwick Airport tweeted to warn people to "take extra care" when travelling today.

Wizz Air is also expected to cancel some flights, and tweeted: "If we cancel your flight you'll get notified via SMS, email or at the airport"

It said: "Be advised that due to Storm Eunice, there may be disruption to flights, trains and the shuttle service.

"Please try to arrive earlier, take extra care and check with your travel providers for flight information."

A spokesman for TUI added: "We’re closely monitoring the situation and would advise customers to allow extra journey time to the airport in case of any disruption to roads and rail networks."

In addition to disruption to flights, all trains have been cancelled in Wales and a danger to life warning has been issued across all of England.

Soldiers are bracing for deployment in hardest hit regions, and Brits have been told to travel only if "absolutely necessary" and to work from home where possible.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan urged Brits to batten down the hatches and stay inside.

He said: "Storm Eunice will bring damaging winds which pose a risk to life today.

"Please stay at home, do not take risks, and do not travel unless absolutely essential."
