A DISGUSTING video has revealed just how much dirt is on your train seat.
Commuters may have to think twice before they sit down the next time there's an empty spot.
The video, posted to Reddit, shows a man hitting a train seat in Sydney.
Every time he punches it with his fist, a huge plume of dust emerges from the seat.
By the end of the video, a huge swirl of dust is floating through the rest of the carriage.
The video was captioned: "They really need to vacuum these train seats."
A similar video by The Sun revealed the same problem with the seats on the underground in London as well.
Reddit users were conflicted over how surprising it was.
One person wrote: "Say hello to your new dustmite pals."
Many were stunned that the man decided to touch the seats with his bare hands.
One commented: "Had a minor dry retch reaction to seeing that. Not the dust… but the fact you were touching it with your skin."
Another person added: "I dislike placing my butt on those seats, let alone my bare hands….I admire your bravery."
However, many were not exactly surprised by the outcome.
They wrote: "lmao we all knew this was apparent, we didn't need your confirmation, enjoy the tuberculosis."
Others said the dust is also bad on bus seats, while one person even branded it "fake", to which the original poster replied: "Try it yourself, I assure you it’s not fake."
A study in 2016 found train seats were six times dirtier than toilet seats, with the Northern Line having the most bacteria.
Dirty trains are hardly surprising, with one man berated online after being caught with his bare feet on the seats.
Last year, a group of eight Brits were caught destroying a train and even pooing on the floor.
It isn't just buses and trains which are pretty gross – a British Airways passenger found dried vomit on his business class seat during his flight.
