A COUPLE have sparked debate after they asked to move seats during a flight – only for a passenger to refuse.
Jay Kloss and his wife Zoe were travelling with Virgin Australia for her birthday.
However, the couple were not sat together – Zoe had a window seat while Jay was in an aisle seat on the other side of the plane.
The couple, from Melbourne, asked if they were in the wrong on TikTok.
Jay explained how he asked the stranger to swap so he could sit with Zoe, only to be ignored at first.
He explained that he said: "'Hey, would you mind moving so I could sit with my missus? It's her birthday''."

He continued: "And he just looks at me, he doesn't respond.
"I was like, 'Is it possible if you switch to here?'
"He was like, 'No, I won't, but I'll sit here (Zoe's window seat)'."
Jay added that he was getting the same seat, just on the other side of the plane.

However, the stranger said he would only move if he could get the window seat.
Zoe then asked why he was refusing only for him to say "no problem, but not moving."
Jay ended the video by asking: "Can somebody explain to me, what the hell is going on here? It's the same seat, just on a different side of the aisle."
Most people were not on his side.
One person commented: "The dude didn’t have to give up his seat, even if it was the nice thing to do. Just gotta deal with people answering Y or N. Can’t expect it to be Y."
A second added: "Why didn’t you book seats next to each other? Seems like it’s a you problem not a his problem."
Someone else said: "I’m so glad that guy didn’t move for you."
But some could see his point – someone wrote: "Life is too short to be unhelpful."
Jay said a passenger in the window seat next to him offered to swap with Zoe in the end so they could sit next to each other.
