Ryanair has "lost" the chance to negotiate in a bid to avoid strikes this week, according to union British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA).
The pilots' union has planned strike action for Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd August, which it plans to carry out.
However, BALPA revealed that Ryanair is currently seeking a High Court Injunction on Wednesday in a bid to try and stop the industrial action from taking place.
It claims that as a result, the airline's "chance to resolve the dispute involving their pilots has been lost".
If Ryanair is successful in obtaining the injunction it would mean the strikes could not go ahead, but if the airline is unsuccessful then there's a strong chance the industrial action will take place unless it can find an agreement with the union.
Brian Strutton, BALPA General Secretary, said: "Ryanair pilots in the UK have a serious dispute with their company which will not be resolved by raising legal technicalities in the High Court.
"Their attempt to block lawful strike action is just another demonstration of the bullying tactics the airline appears to favour.
"It means all the time that could have been used to try to find a resolution will now be spent preparing for the court action.
