This week, singer/songwriter Shakin’ Stevens checks in to our travel Q&A.
Here he talks about his earliest holiday memory – a trip to South Wales – his first trip abroad, his travel essentials and more.
EARLIEST HOLIDAY MEMORY?
Going to Porthcawl, South Wales, with the family in the summer for two weeks. We stayed in a couple of caravans and I’d play on the beach for hours. At the end of the fortnight us kids would get a special treat… going on the dodgems.
FIRST TRIP ABROAD?
Touring Europe with my band in the 60s in my teens. We took the ferry to Holland before heading on to Denmark and Germany — happy days.
DO YOU ENJOY TOURING?
Yes, I still get a buzz from being on stage. I toured with Status Quo last year and hope to be back on the road again later this year.
TOUR HIGH SPOT?
I’ve always got a particularly warm reception when I’ve performed in Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
TRAVEL MUST HAVE?
My song lyrics, tailored black jacket when I’m touring and, most importantly, my glasses.
