When holiday hunting, there are always plenty of cheap flights to be found – if you know where to look.
In fact, travel insiders have often said that what seem like small decisions can make a big difference to the cost of your trip, such as choosing the cheapest day to fly out, or how far in advance you book your holiday.
Then of course there's finding the flights that also work for your chosen destination and travel dates.
To give holidaymakers a helping hand, Skyscanner looked at flight data over the last five years to determine just what can help you snap up those brilliant flight offers.
Check out their top five tips for finding flight deals below…
1. Book flights on a Wednesday
Skyscanner research has shown that this tends to be the best day to bag cheap flights online, while Mondays can be the most expensive (we wonder if it's because everyone's trying to keep those Monday blues at bay!).
2. Fly out on a Friday
Friday has consistently shown to be the cheapest day of the week to fly from the UK, according to Skyscanner data across the last five years. However, try and avoid Tuesday as this is the most expensive day!
3. Consider a different airport
If you're lucky enough to live within an easy distance of more than one airport, you may want to consider alternative departures as this could save you money.
For example, a family of four flying to Tenerife could save over £300 by opting for London Luton rather than London Stansted.
Fares don’t have to be booked as returns; you could save money by flying out with one airline and returning with another.
5. Monitor prices
If you've got somewhere in mind, it's worth setting up price alerts so you can get notified when prices rise and fall on a specific route. (If you can't decide, Skyscanner's Search Everywhere tool lets you find cheapest destinations to travel to for a specific destination).
