Bixie Haircuts Are Everywhere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival
It looks like 2022’s biggest haircut trend has gone international. The 75th annual Cannes Film Festival is officially underway, and some of Hollywood’s biggest names in attendance. As expected, stars are pulling out all the stops when it comes to their beauty looks, but one look in particular is making the rounds: the “bixie” haircut.
Josephine Skriver, Grace Elizabeth, Rebecca Hall, and other stars have all been spotted at Cannes with a bixie, joining the long list of celebrities who debuted the cut this year. The haircut, which is a combination of a bob and a pixie haircut, has recently been seen on Sarah Hyland, Ciara, Alexa Demie, and more — and this latest appearance suggests that it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
“A bixie is shorter than a bob, longer than a pixie, and keeps the hair off the neck and midface,” April Peele, a hairstylist at Salon SCK in New York City, previously told POPSUGAR. “The style offers that sweet spot for clients who want to cut their hair off but aren’t ready for the maintenance and commitment of really short hair, or maybe they want really short hair but think they can’t pull a pixie off.”
