Kim Kardashian Launched Three Genderless KKW Fragrances With Celeb Florist Jeff Leatham

If you keep up with Kim Kardashian on Instagram, then you’re probably familiar with her penchant for lavish, over-the-top floral arrangements. Every Kardashian flower moment—commemorating KKW Beauty collection launches, birthdays, and Christmas parties—are courtesy of celebrity florist and longtime friend Jeff Leatham. For her latest KKW fragrance, Kardashian teamed up with Leatham to help bottle her iconic floral displays and favorite blooms.

“This collaboration has been so seamless and easy,” Kardashian told BAZAAR.com of her first collaboration outside of her family. “When you have worked with someone for a decade, you really get to know their taste and style.”

The pair first met 10 years ago in Paris, and Leatham has been creating floral arrangements for the Kardashian-Jenner family ever since. “It was so exciting for me to see Jeff’s real taste and what scents he loves,” the beauty mogul adds. “We mixed both our tastes together and created these magical fragrances.”

Launching today, the genderless KKW Fragrance x Jeff Leatham collection features three floral-inspired scents that range from “fresh and airy” to “dark and sexy.”

“There’s definitely a morning, noon, and evening vibe with each of these scents,” Leatham explains. “They’re strong enough that they create their own mood, and when they chemically react with your skin, they kind of just take on their own personality. But they’re for everyone.”

The collection has been a year in the making, the two explained. “Kim texted me to collab and we had our first Zoom meeting last April, then started sniffing different types of scents about two months later,” notes Leatham. The florist explained how he translated Kardashian’s favorite floral scents and his own preferences into the fragrances.

“Kim really loves this gorgeous light pink rose called Quicksand and when thinking about how to recreate that we came up with our Desert Rose scent,” he says. Desert Rose is a light and creamy scent with a hint of musk and notes of pink peppercorn and tuberose. Jasmine Air, Kardashian’s favorite amongst the three, is a fresh floral scent with a citrus counterpart and notes of vanilla, Bulgarian rose, and both blood and bitter orange. Leatham’s favorite, Night Iris, opens with a hint of spice (black pepper) and turns sensual courtesy of sandalwood, blue iris, and bergamot. “I love strong, patchouli oil-based fragrances, and Night Iris really embodies that,” he says.

Kardashian brought her memories with flowers into the conversation when creating the fragrances as well. “At my mom’s old house that we grew up in, we had jasmine bushes and I can still remember getting a whiff of the flower when I would walk by our barbecue outside where the bushes sat,” she explains. “My dad always had gardenias when you walked into his house and he loved the flower, so that always reminds me of him.”

Not only did the pair put a lot of thought into the scents, but they wanted the bottles to be pieces of art.

“It was really important to me to have the bottle to look like a little vase,” adds Kardashian. “We really wanted it to be used as a vase too, that’s why we have the top so you can put a single rose in the bottle. That makes me so happy.”

Leatham urges customers to keep their bottles even when the fragrance has run out. “We wanted to create something that people could collect and use as a centerpiece or in your bathroom or next to your bed. We hope this brings people a bit of sunshine and Kim, since the neutral, earthy tones are so indicative of her style.”

After many scents under her belt and KKW brand, Kardashian still remembers the perfumes that got her hooked on fragrance. “I loved really strong scents. When my dad used to travel, he would always come back with different fragrances,” she says, recalling Tribu by Benetton as one her father first bought her. “I still have the Tribu bottle today.”

Kardashian also was a fan of Thierry Mugler’s iconic scent Angel, which was her gateway to sweet scents. “As I got older, I moved onto more mature scents and started buying my own, like Dior J’adore,” she adds. “Fragrance is really personal to me.”
