TV presenter Scarlette Douglas has opened up about her insecurities surrounding her weight in a new interview. The A Place In The Sun host spoke candidly about her issues, following years of watching her weight closely.
Scarlette, who has starred in a number of West End shows, claimed that while working in musical theatre she was told she was “too fat”.
More shockingly, it was suggested that if she didn’t lose weight, she would lose her job.
The presenter made her comments during a chat with her co-stars Jasmine Harman and Laura Hamilton.
The 33-year-old said of her time at college: “Every month for three years we got weighed and if you were overweight you had to see a nutritionist, who put us on some crazy diet, eating seeds.
“When I did musical theatre, people told me I was too fat and if I didn’t lose weight, I’d lose my job,” she told The Sun.
Scarlette, who joined the cast of the Channel 4 show in 2015, went on to say that she has “really struggled” being in front of the camera in the past because of her insecurities.
“I’ve definitely had periods during my years on the show when I’ve really struggled, because TV adds pounds.
“I’ve always had an issue with my weight,” she added.
Before landing her role on the popular property programme, Scarlette starred in the The X Factor Musical I Can’t Sing!.
She has also appeared in productions of Hairspray, Little Shop Horrors and Rock of Ages.
In addition to this, the performer has danced on TV shows such as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away and Children In Need before turning her hand to presenting.
She has since worked on The One Show, MTV and also presents on Capital Xtra.
