Alan Carr’s husband Paul Drayton has caused concern for some fans after he posted a now-deleted photo of himself with a black eye on social media. The picture was removed from Paul’s Instagram after an hour.

After sharing the snap, Paul responded to one of his 9,410 followers who was worried about his injury.

They penned: “What the hell happened? Sending my love @pauldrayton1.”

Replying to the fan, Paul wrote back: “We had a bad row,” alongside a crying emoji.

Paul didn’t disclose who he had been rowing with or how he sustained his bruise.

Following Paul’s shocking post, Alan said he was not responsible for his other half’s black eye.

The comedian explained to The Sun that Paul, 49, had started drinking again.

Paul previously went into rehab following the couple’s wedding in 2018.

Alan told the publication: “While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again.

“When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.

“We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better which is our number one priority right now.”

Three days prior to sharing the photo of himself with a black eye, Paul had posted a photo where he was pictured with vomit on his T-shirt.

He captioned the snap: “This is what alcoholism does to you.

He said: “It’s been tough for Paul. He’s been saying, ‘Oh, shall we get a bottle?’ and I say, ‘No, we’re not getting any rosé wine in’.

“He’s been so good and I’m so proud of him.”

Alan initially decided to quit booze in a bid to support Paul, but does drink occasionally now.

He revealed: “I enjoy a drink and I have it on special occasions now, it’s a real treat for me.”
