Britney Spears 'blocked from removing IUD’ to have baby, court hears

Britney Spears wants to remove her IUD to have children with boyfriend Sam Asghari but said in court that the conversatorship has blocked her from doing so.

The Gimme More singer appeared in court remotely on Wednesday to plead with the judge to end her 13-year conservatorship, partly controlled by her father Jamie Spears.

During her shocking testimony, Britney said she wants to start a family with Sam but has allegedly been blocked from removing the intrauterine device, also known as intrauterine contraceptive device or coil.

An IUD is a method of birth control that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. They are one form of long-acting reversible birth control.

Britney testified: ‘I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out.

‘I feel ganged up on. I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone. I want to be able to get married and have a baby.’

The 39-year-old also claimed that Sam, 27, is not allowed to drive her in his car and that she’s not allowed to see friends she met at an AA meeting locally.

Britney and Sam have been dating since 2016 after meeting on-set of her Slumber Party music video. Hours before the court hearing, the model and fitness trainer shared a selfie of him wearing a Free Britney T-shirt.

The pop star is already a mother to two sons – Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden James, 14 – who she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Earlier in the hearing, Britney described the conservatorship as ‘abusive’ and pleaded with the judge to free her from the order.

She explained: ‘They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life. So I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say.

‘A lot has happened since two years ago, the last time I was in court. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.

‘After I’ve told the whole world I’m okay, it’s a lie. I’m not happy and I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day … It’s my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back.

‘I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. I want to end the conservatorship without having to be evaluated. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive.’

Later during the hearing, a lawyer representing Britney’s father Jamie spoke on his behalf and simply said: ‘He is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain.

‘Mr Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.’

As the hearing concluded, Britney’s lawyer Samuel Ingham III said he would discuss with the singer the issues of formally filing for termination of the conservatorship and the introduction of a private counsel to represent her, as he was appointed by the court.

The judge said parties in the case would need to discuss how they want to proceed and advised them it would be better for them to sort a date for future hearings with the court, rather than during Wednesday’s hearing.
