Fans DRAG Oprah Winfrey For 'Lying' About How She Lost Weight – After Years Of Shilling For Weight Watchers!

Oprah Winfrey has some unhappy fans right now…

The acclaimed talk show host has been an ambassador for Weight Watchers for six years now. Per the company’s site, they offer weight loss and maintenance, fitness, and mindset services to help users diet and lose weight in a more health-conscious way, as opposed to using drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy for quicker results. She even said just a few months ago during an Oprah Daily panel that at one point she personally felt using the drugs would be “the easy way out.” But as we now know, she’s changed her tune…

In an interview with People on Wednesday, the 69-year-old admitted to using a weight loss drug to “manage not yo-yoing” her weight. She didn’t reveal which drug in particular she uses, but she added:

“The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.”

She noted she has a “predisposition” to issues with her weight, and no matter how much “willpower” she dedicates, it’s more an issue of physiology — something she realized during that September panel. But it sounds like fans aren’t sold…

On X (Twitter), fans SLAMMED her for “lying” about how she lost her weight as a Weight Watchers ambassador:

“Done with the shaming but ok with lying?”

“So weight watchers doesn’t work????”

“So she said she never would and she ended up doing it. funny how the world works.”

“A lot of people I’ve talked to suspected it wasn’t just Weight Watchers. If it works and makes her healthier, great. But being honest earlier about what she was using would have helped a lot of people.”

Yikes! As someone who’s struggled with weight for decades and has always encouraged fans to shed lbs the ol’ fashioned way, people clearly just feel a bit blindsided. However, one netizen pointed out that the admission could have larger business implications:

“Oprah is a long-time Weight Watchers partner and board member. WW just rolled out ‘WW Clinic’ where you can get prescription weight-loss meds, including Semaglutide + Ozempic.”

Inneresting.

There were some supporters, though, mostly praising her new look — no matter what it took:

“She looks fantastic!”

“My brother, as gastroenterologist, says that he would rather have a patient on medication for weight loss than to suffer the enormous health consequences of obesity.”

“Oprah admitting to using weight loss injections is iconic”

“Who didn’t figure that out? She’s been extremely overweight all her life. Ozempic is a godsend for her. Unfortunately the craze for that drug for vanity usage has created a shortage for people who need it to live.”
