Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty: Was Their Proposal Even More Glamorous Than the Wedding?

Gigi Gorgeous is a YouTube personality who has shared her transgender journey with her many followers over the past couple of years. Nats Getty is the model, designer, and oil heiress who is a member of the J. Paul Getty clan.

These two met when Getty was sent to the airport by her brother, designer August Getty, to pick up the designer’s “muse.” Giselle Lazzarato (Gigi Gorgeous) was standing in the terminal in a long, white, fur coat. Getty says:

“She was bubbly and laughing, and it was so infectious. The moment I saw her, I was instantly a thousand times happier than I was the second before.”

After meeting and falling in love with Getty, Lazzarato said she finally realized that she was a lesbian. Getty identifies as lesbian as well.

The proposal

After dating for two happy years, Getty told Lazzarato that they were going to a photo-shoot at a castle in Paris. A helicopter arrived to whisk the couple off for what was supposed to be some picture-taking.

Once the two landed, Getty asked Lazzarato to marry her while their friends and family members surrounded the couple. Then the fireworks began – literally.

Sparkling candles; a gigantic “marry me” sign on the outer castle walls; a massive diamond ring, and pink lighting in a gorgeous room with a rounded roof. The proposal was exciting, beautiful, surprising, loving, and unique.

The wedding

On Friday, July 12, 2019, Lazzarato and Getty married. Lazzarato’s 2.2 million Instagram followers and 2.9 million YouTube fans went wild. Getty has more than 50,000 followers on Instagram, where she shares her personal and brand (fashion design) chronicles.

The wedding took place in, where else, the Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California. The bride was gorgeous (pun intended) in a fairy-tale Michael Costello gown.

She donned two other Costello dresses during the evening. Getty wore a striking white suit she designed from her design label, Strike Oil.

Which was better?

Getty is the heiress apparent of the Getty Oil fortune which amounts to approximately $5 billion. She also makes money on her own based on her clothing line, earnings from her position with the activist group GLAAD, and her income from modeling for The Next Management modeling agency.

To say that she has plenty of money would be a severe understatement. Lazzarato’s and Getty’s engagement celebration was the epitome of grandiosity. No holds were barred, so the price tag on the reception was undoubtedly steep.

The wedding also seemed to have no boundaries. There were three bridal dresses, celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, who is the Kardashian-Jenner’s planner of choice, and much more extravagance.

Although the proposal was fabulous, the wedding, as Lazzarato explained was “Princess Diana-level.” She says she has always wanted “the biggest wedding on Earth.”

The consensus, then, would probably be that both the engagement party and the wedding reception, including all the accouterments, could be defined in this way: about as fabulous they could be.

Since money was no object, whatever the bride wanted was almost certainly what she got. To have been a guest at either or both of the parties was a thrill for all.
