H from Steps is selling impressive artwork for thousands in valuable side hustle

Ian 'H' Watkins is perhaps best-known as H from the 90s pop band, Steps, but he has one other very successful passion – painting.

The 46 year old has been selling his impressive artwork for thousands of pounds, in what is proving to be a very valuable side hustle.

Ian, who is father to seven year old twins, Macsen and Cybi Ryder-Watkins, has a special Instagram account and website that is dedicated to his artwork, which uses acrylic paints to create a number of stunning landscape pieces.

His website bio reads: "All of Ian's works are drawn from the experience of escaping into the landscape, and being consumed by it.

"Following a number of sold out exhibitions, Ian took a break from painting to start a family.

"With his children now in school, Ian has found the time to be creative once again and has recently been signed by multiple galleries."

The excited star took to Instagram recently to gush that his paintings were being sold in an art gallery in Cardiff.

Sharing a snap of himself and two others in front of some of his artwork, as he wrote: " I’ve been taking time out recently to get back to my first love.. Painting.

"It was always my dream to have exhibitions! Before my boys arrived I fulfilled that dream… but I’ve been a little busy the past few years, juggling children, tours and albums!

"But I’m making time for me now… ( around the school run!) I’m Super excited to say that@theadamogallerywill be exhibiting my paintings in Cardiff."

His former Steps bandmate Lisa Scott-Lee sweetly offered her support to H as she commented: "Ahh so happy for you and proud of you @ianhwatkins".

Kate Thornton also commented: "Congratulations! So proud of you x".

His Hiraeth collection at the Adamo Gallery in Cardiff are for sale for up to £2,550.

The gallery's site says of the collection: "Hiraeth can be used to describe the yearning and love for Wales and Welsh culture. This theme is evident in Ian’s work with his sprawling landscapes, rich earthy colours, and primitive and authentic form.

"Wistful and nostalgic, Ian’s landscapes remind you of wet and windy mountains to rugged valleys filled with coal and slate. All of Ian’s pieces are focused on being consumed in the moment of the landscape."

His artwork is also on sale at the Cloud Gallery, where prices start from £1,000.

He also recently shared that one of his artworks had been "SOLD", as he said: "Sometimes I find paintings I love hard to let go.. I often wonder who they’ll go home with and which room they’ll end up in."
