Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, stepped down from their senior royal duties in March 2020 and moved overseas to Los Angeles to start a new life. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Karyn Parsons, 54, had her say on how she thinks the couple could be handling the “suffocating” city.
The actress said Los Angeles residents could experience the town differently, depending on their surroundings.
She explained: “It’s an industry town, a lot of towns are industry towns, it’s Hollywood, so for me it’s a little suffocating.
“You go out and everybody is talking about the same thing, it depends where you are in LA probably.
“A lot of the areas when I’ve lived, people are talking about script options, this and that audition and everyone at restaurants… their head turns quickly to see who is walking in the door.”
Karyn, who now lives in New York, said “you can’t go 24 hours” without somebody speaking about Hollywood in the sprawling Southern California city.
On whether she thinks it’s the best place for the couple to hide from the spotlight, she added: “I don’t know when you’re at that level in terms of finances, your structure and what your life is like, it might be quite different.
“I’m sure it’s quite a different experience than people who are struggling and challenged all the time, if you’re trying to make a move or a deal then I think it’s really frustrating.
“If you’re in it and things are flowing for you more and you have more leverage and power and means, it’s probably… your relationship is quite different.
“For me, they’re not going to see this so much, but the homeless situation is difficult to live in, it’s hard to see the contrast and see it continue to exist, it’s very difficult.”
The royal opened up about life in LA back in February.
Harry said he hadn’t had the chance to see all of it, due to the Covid restrictions in place at the time.
He added he had “no idea” what life would be like once everything was opened.

Speaking to James Corden, he went on to say it could be “a slightly different version or continuation of what we were doing back in the UK”.
“My life is always going to be about public service and Meghan has signed up to that, and the two of us enjoy doing that,” he added.
“Trying to bring some compassion, make people happy and try to change the world in any small way that we can.”
A source previously told US Weekly that the pair moved from Beverly Hills to Montecito, in Santa Barbara County for a quieter life.
They said: “Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture.
“An added bonus is that Montecito is only just over an hour’s drive from L.A, which is where a majority of their work is based, yet far enough away to escape the crowds, paparazzi, and tourism in Hollywood.”
The couple live in the city with their two-year-old son Archie and daughter Lilibet, who was born in June.
Meanwhile, Karyn recently returned to screens in new drama Sweet Thing, created by her husband Alexandre Rockwell.
The drama is an intimate and aching family show, described by Quentin Tarantino as one of the most powerful new films he’s seen in years.
It is available to watch digitally and in cinemas nationwide.
